Founded in 1978, as part of the reconstruction plan of Friuli after the earthquake in 1976, the University of Udine is a non-profit public higher education institution placed in the urban setting of the large town of Udine, which is located in a strategic position at the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
Officially accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, UNIUD is a large coeducational higher education institution. The University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE (DAME)
The Department of Medicine, since its establishment in 1986, set itself the aim of promoting higher education by imparting knowledge and generating new ideas. DAME seeks also to promote research, technological transfer, internationalization cooperation and interaction with the territory. The key of the success at both national and international level is the quality and the force of all its components and the ability to combine expertise, methods and knowledge within its projects.

Alvisa Palese, PhDc, MNS, BNS, RN
Coordinator of the Bachelor of Nursing Science, Udine and Pordenone campus, of Udine University.
Alvisa is Associate Professor of Nursing Science and her main teaching areas are Fundamentals of Nursing care, Evidence Based Nursing, Modes of care delivery and Nursing care in chronic conditions. Her research interest includes nursing care issues among individuals with cognitive decline living in Nursing Homes or at home (functional decline, self-feeding performance and antecedents; restraint use); nursing sensitive outcome measurements; their relationship with nursing workforce and missed nursing care; moreover, nursing education quality improvement and measurement is also one of her research interests.
Illarj Achil, MNS, BNS, RN
Master in Nursing Management, Master in Tutorship for Health and Social Sciences.
Illarj is a Nurse Educator, Chief of the clinical training program in Udine Campus. She is a Professor in Charge of Clinical Nursing teaching, with a specific focus on patients’ comfort and activities of daily life assessment and promotion.
Her clinical experiences were in Community and Mental Health settings.
Illarj’s research interests reflect her clinical background and include predominantly Community Nursing Care development.
Stefano Fabris, MSN, BNS, RN
Post-Graduate Specialization Course in Critical Care Nursing, Master in Nursing Management.
Stefano is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of the Administration Course in Udine Campus. He also designs and leads Laboratory modules, and has a reference role for the simulation-based training at the Simulation and High Training Center (CSAF) in Udine.
His clinical experience has been mainly in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit.
Stefano supervises students during their clinical learning experience in the Cardiothoracic and Emergency Departments. Moreover, he is the Coordinator of the third academic year. His research interests encompass patient care with acute and chronic cardiovascular problems.
Teresa Bulfone, MNS, BNS, RN
Teresa is a Nurse Educator in Udine Campus. As Professor in Charge, she has many years of experience in planning and leading Laboratory modules for nursing students. As a clinical nurse, she has developed her clinical background in Oncological and Medical wards. She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Oncological and Medical areas. Teresa’s research interests include Oncological, and Maternal-Child Nursing.
Margherita Venturini, MNS, BNS, RN
Master in Nursing Management. Margherita is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of Medical Nursing Care Modules in Udine Campus. As a nurse, she has a wide clinical experience in the Hematologic and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Unit. She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Medical Units, Hematological and Oncological settings. Accordingly, her research interest includes caring for medical, hematology and oncology patients.
Marzia Morandini, MNS, BNS, RN, LM
Master in Nursing Management. Marzia is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of the Nursing Care for Elderly Module in Udine Campus. She has a long clinical experience both in Surgery and in Community care settings. She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Community and Mental Health settings. Marzia’s research activities includes chronic care, Health Literacy and nursing care in patients with dementia.
Elisa Mattiussi, MNS, BNS, RN
Master in Nursing Management, Master in Critical Care Nursing, Master in Evidence Based Nursing. Elisa is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of the Critical Care Nursing Module (ICU) at the Pordenone Campus. As a nurse, she has a great experience in the Intensive and Critical Care Units. She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Intensive Care Unit, Cardiosurgical Units and Pneumology. Elisa’s research interests include the use of restraints among critical ill patients, nursing workloads in ICU and guidelines implementation in ICU.
Renzo Moreale, MNS, BNS, RN
Renzo is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of Clinical Nursing teaching in Udine Campus, with a specific focus on surveillance strategies. He currently works in the Neurosurgery Unit at the Academic Hospital of Udine. He supervises students during their clinical learning experience in the Neuroscience area. His research interests are in patient’s care with neurosurgical and neurological disease.
Davide Caruzzo, MNS, BNS, RN
Davide is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of the Medication administration Module I Care in Udine Campus. He has developed his clinical experience in Nursing Home, Hematology and Neurosurgery units. He supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Neuro-rehabilitation, Medicine, Surgical and Long-term Care departments. His research interests encompass Neuroscience Nursing (Neurosurgery and Neurology) and nursing care among older people.
Irene Mansutti, PhD student, MNS, BNS, RN
Irene is a Nurse Educator in Udine Campus. As a nurse, she has developed her clinical experience in the Stroke Unit and Neurology ward. She supervises students during their clinical learning experience in Medicine, Surgical and Long-term Care departments. Her main research interest is focused upon neurology patients. Specifically, in her PhD project, she is studying patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke delirium’s antecedents and outcomes.
Matteo Danielis, PhD student, MNS, BNS, RN
Master in Nursing Management.
Matteo is a Nurse Educator in Udine Campus.
He has a clinical background predominantly in Critical Care Nursing, as Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Services nurse.
He supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Surgical wards.
His main research interest is focused on patient outcomes in Critical Care settings, Nursing Sensitive Outcomes and Missed Nursing Care.
Valentina Bressan, PhD, MNS, BNS, RN
Valentina is a research fellow in Udine Campus. As a nurse, she worked at the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at the Academic Hospital of Udine. Her research interests encompass nursing care on patients with head and neck cancer, patients with dementia, patient safety and nursing students’ performances.
Cristina Tommasini, MNS, BNS, RN

Cristina is a Nurse Educator and Erasmus Delegate, Professor in Charge in Evidence-Based Nursing Module, and Chief of the clinical training program in Pordenone Campus.
As a nurse, she worked in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit, Medicine ward and Operating Room.
As member of the hospital acquired infection committee, the development of patient safety is her main topic of research interest; she is also engaged in hospital care bundles' development, implementation and evaluation, as well as in epidemiological survey planning education. Furthermore, she is interested on creative methods for inclusion of people with dementia.
Giulia Ortez, MSc, BNS, RN
Master in Nursing Management.
Giulia is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge in Patient Education Modules and in Laboratory module in Pordenone Campus.
Previously she developed her nursing expertise in in Oncology, Medicine and Surgical wards as a clinical nurse and as a nurse manager.
She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Medical and Surgical wards, and in Community settings.
Her research area is focused upon the efficacy of structured therapeutic patients’ education interventions.
Annalisa Morandin, BNS, RN

Annalisa is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge in Oncology Nursing Modules and in the Laboratory Module in Pordenone Campus.
Her clinical background has developed in Medical and Oncological wards both as a clinical nurse and as a nurse manager.
She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Surgical and Community settings.
Her research interests encompass Oncological and Palliative Care, with specific regards to the quality of nursing care and continuity of care.
Giannina Viera, BNS, RN

Giannina is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge in Medication Administration Modules and in Laboratory module in Pordenone Campus.
Previously she worked in Pneumology as Nurse Manager and in Surgery and in Family Nursing Care as a clinical nurse.
She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in Medical, Community and Mental Health settings.
The management of medication-related risks, patient engagement in medication safety, nursing care in patients with chronic and medical diseases are her main research interests. She is also a member of projects in the local trust aimed at overcoming physical restraint use in daily practice.
Nadia Battistella, MNS, BNS, RN

Nadia is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of Clinical Nursing Modules in Pordenone Campus, where she teaches Fundamentals Nursing interventions.
Her clinical experience has been in Coronary Intensive Care Unit and in Oncological Unit. She supervises students in their clinical learning experiences in Medical, Surgical and Pediatric wards.
Her research area is focused on Pediatric Care and in Narrative Medicine.
She is also involved in quality improvement projects in Palliative Care.
Laura Claut, BNS, RN

Laura is a Nurse Educator and Professor in Charge of the Community Nursing Care modules in Pordenone Campus.
Her clinical background has been in Surgical and Emergency Departments, in Nursing Home and Community Care settings.
She supervises students in their clinical learning experience in the Community and Mental Health settings, in Nursing Homes, in Medical and in Surgical units.
Her main research interests include Community Nursing care and Educational interventions. She is also involved in community and educational quality improvement projects in the local trust.
